Color Me Corby
>>This entry is regarding to the Samsung Corby Carnival with Nuffnang

When I was 13, it was compulsory for everyone in the school to wear a formal attire or known as baju rasmi. We called it The Orange Kurung. Everytime there were any formal occasion such birthday party *party?*, appreciation ceremony, VIP's trip, theater at Istana Budaya, or even invitation to watch an opera performance in KLCC we must, err… no; we have to wear that well known Orange Kurung. During that time, unnoticeable; most of us hate any attire in orange color. As we walk out from the school gate, people around KL will recognized us as the-girls-with-orange-kurung T____T.
There are also taboos. If we are wearing that Orange Kurung, we have need to behave properly. Don't talk too much. Don't laugh to loud. Don't do this; don't do that. It was like The Orange Kurung is a holy costume because it will reflect the image of our school.
Until I was 17.
The school administration decided to change The Orange Kurung to something new. Something they thought more fresh, sweet, and lovely outfit. So that year all form one until form four students was wearing purple. Except for us, the senior girls. Somehow, that year orange kurung become so tarnish but full of memories. The Orange Kurung taught us how to walk like a princess, eat like a princess, smile like a princess, even talk like a real princess.
Today, nobody hates orange color anymore. We proud everytime we see an old picture shown the girls with The Orange Kurung.
Perhaps Corby able to color my days into orange, once more?

Did I feel stupid when I speak Malay?
Dia ada sindir-sindir gak Melayu rural yang konon nak cakap English tapi sebenarnya tak la pandai sangat then boleh pulak berlagak hebat. Aiyooo~ teringat pulak interview KPM dulu. Aku belasah je cakap ape ntah janji interviewer tu paham maksud aku. Entah la. Sejak jarang baca novel English ni vocab aku sangat limited. Aku rasa journal-journal nak wat AE tu bahasa dia boleh dikatakan simple English kalau nak banding dengan novel English. Sebab tu aku rasa takde beza sangat dari pengetahuan tentang vocab sebelum ni. Kena take note ni! Teringat aku pernah call office abah dulu masa aku form one. Bila receptionist tu tanya,
"Yes, who's speaking?" aku dah menggelabah. Kena cakap inggeris jugak ke? Aku pun jawab la dengan ayat yang aku dah belajar sejak sekolah rendah lagi.
"Hello may I speak to my father?" KAHKAHKAH gila berdebar cakap inggeris kat telefon. Pertama kali ni, of coz aku nervous! Lepas tu orang tu tanya lagi tapi aku tak paham la pulak ape dia tanya T_________T. Dah terkial-kial aku nak menjawab.
"Err... umm.." Agak-agak macam aku susah nak menjawab tiba-tiba receptionist tu tanya,
"Ye... adik nak cakap dengan siapa? Nama ayah siapa?"
Huh! Lega aku receptionist ni tau cakap Melayu. HUAHUAHUA. Abah aku kata diorang kat opis semua gelak bila receptionist tu bagitau ape jadi kat dalam talian tu. Pffttttt!!!!
Sejak hari tu la aku berusaha nak belajar Bahasa Inggeris baik-baik. Aku taknak orang gelakkan aku lagi sebab aku tak tau speaking atau salah pronounce. Lagi-lagi la dah masuk universiti macam ni, *Ok, dah nak keluar dah sebenarnya* haruslah fluence in English.
Takpe la tak master pun tapi sekurang-kurangnya kita boleh bagi good impression pada mereka yang speaking dengan kita. So simple English tu kira accepted la kan daripada tak boleh speaking langsung. No?
